Kyle 'I don't need to work anymore'

In an interview with News Limited, Southern Cross Austereo's Kyle Sandilands has said that he doesn't need to work anymore for money.

Kyle is quoted as saying;

"I could stop work today and never have to worry again, although I might not be able to buy a new car every six months and do stupid things like fly around."

Steven Seagal can do anything

This has to be one of the funniest accidental interviews ever, and worthy of being placed in 'The Vault'.

When Triple M Sydney's Grill Team had a scheduled interview with Steven Seagal, the chat with his manager whilst they were waiting for 'Mr Seagal' to become available was far more amusing than the real interview.

Yeah it's 12 minutes long. Yeah it's 12 minutes you won't get back. But boy it's worth it.

Gotye returns to 2SER

As we all know, Melbourne singer/songwriter Gotye won a Grammy last week for his exquisite 'Somebody that I used to know', and naturally the whole world wanted a piece of him.

Following the Grammy ceremony, no radio station got as much time as Sydney community station, 2SER, who Gotye gave an hour of his time to. 

Why was Gotye so generous with 2SER, and not as generous with the big commercial stations?

Aloha from Nova

Last week we told you how Nova Brisbane were sending their breakfast show, Ash, Kip & Luttsy, plus some lucky listeners to Hawaii (see here).

On the final day of their week of broadcasts, they surprised Kip by flying in his Valentine, Emileigh, who lives in the US.

Nova flew her over, hid her away and then this morning revealed that she was there. But.......

What breakfast show doesn't love a great story arc to milk on valentines day?

Yesterday 92.9 Perth's breakfast show, Lisa, Paul & Baz, spoke to Zac, a young guy who has been ordering coffees from the same girl (Holly) for a year now, has a huge crush on her and who wanted to show his feelings in a special way.

Sure he could have just asked her out. But that's way too normal. Zac wrote Holly a song and put it on YouTube on February 13th, hoping that Holly might see it. You can see the first video below;

A chat with 3AW's Ross & John

The Age's Neil McMahon has chatted with the hugely successful 3AW breakfast hosts Ross & John.

Ross Stevenson and John Burns have been working as a duo for 13 years.

''(Ratings success is) obviously lovely to happen but you work at a radio station that has existed since 1932 and has been successful for virtually the entire time, so you never lose sight of the fact that the radio station is a juggernaut.'', says Ross.

Singo steps in at 2GB

It has been a bad look for the management of 2GB this week, who have been depositioned by their majority shareholder, John Singleton.

Earlier this week, Ray Hadley allegedly 'bullied' the 2GB Digital Content Manager, Richard Palmer, abusing him in front of his staff over an unloaded podcast.

Palmer subsequently made a formal complaint to the Macquarie Radio Managing Director, Rob Loewenthal.

ARN parent in turmoil

APN, the parent company of both ARN and TRN, have placed their shares in a trading halt today.

The move comes as one of APN's largest shareholders, the Independent News and Media Group, who control 28.95%, have called for the resignation of CEO Brett Chenoweth (right).

The INM, and Irish based company, have said it had;

“lost confidence in Mr Chenoweth’s ability to implement the strategic initiatives necessary to reposition APN for the more challenged media landscape that has emerged in Australasia"

Complaint to Nova about Hitler comment

Nova 100 recently got themselves into a bit of warm water after xmas fill-in breakfast hosts, Tommy Little and Dani Venn, talked about celebs they thought would be interesting to invite to dinner, one guest suggested was Adolf Hitler.

This led to some complaints to the ADC (Anti-Defamation Commission), “Apparently jocular comments were made that table conversation might include asking why he killed so many people.”

Mamamia Today host separates from husband

ex-92.9 Perth breakfast host, and now co-host of Today Network's Mamamia Today, Em Rusciano has separated from her husband.

In a blog on the Mamamia website Em said:

"I wanted to keep this private, I wanted to protect my children and my heart but I am a public person of sorts and I wanted to be in control of how people found out what has happened recently in my life. You see, my marriage is over."

River 94.9 thanked in parliament

After the recent flood crisis, MP Shayne Neumann made a 5 minute speech thanking River 94.9 for their efforts during the emergency situation.

As well as going into the history of the station, he named many station staff who he thanked for what they did for their community.
