The new Australian Singles Report

The new Australian Singles Report is the first in Australia to combine radio and streaming plays , digital sales and video plays. Every Monday morning at 9am The Music Network’s new Australian Singles Report will feature on Radio Today.

Our new Radio Wrap features – The Top 20, Most Added, New To Radio and new Nova, Hit, KIIS,  triple J and Triple M Top Spins of the Week.

Making an opportune move to #1 this week is Neiked’s Sexual. The debut single from the Swedish mystery collective takes the top spot after being in the chart for nine weeks, most of which were spent hovering in the top five. Its biggest supporters are the Hit and Nova networks, both of which have it as their second most played track.

Starley’s Call On Me has finally replicated its overseas success in Australia. At #14 from #40, it’s the #1 Hot 100 Heatseeker for the week.  Sofi Tukker takes #2 with Drinkee as the track moves from an alternative mainstay to commercial rising star, taking #53 from #78. Dillon Francis’ Anywhere tops the Hot 100 Breakers this week. Unable to crack Australian radio thus far, it’s performing exceptionally well overseas, already garnering 13.5 million streams since release.

Triple j have gotten right behind Golden Features’ new single Wolfie ft. Julia Stone, pushing it to #1. They’ve also thrown plenty of spins behind M-Phases & Alison Wonderland’s Messiah, currently at #2 and A.B. Original’s latest single to click, I C U at #5. Triple M have moved back to playing Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s Human the most while Bernard Fanning drops to #3 with Reckless. Hit’s support of The Weeknd’s Starboy remains strong for another week while also making room to put Peking Duk’s Stranger in the Top 5 most played. They’re the only network to get behind the track to this extent. Clean Bandit’s Rockabye ft. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie overtakes Neiked’s Sexual at #1 on the Nova Spins chart while Maroon 5 end Hailee Steinfeld’s Starving’s four week run at #1 on the KIIS network with Don’t Wanna Know ft. Kendrick Lamar.

Riding the year out at #1 on the Artist Top 50 is The Weeknd’s undeniable hit Starboy ft. Daft Punk.
Overtaking Clean Bandit’s Rockabye ft. Sean Paul & Anne-Marie which now sits at #2, Starboy has stuck it out and finally taken the crown. Vying for #1 since the very first issue of the Australian Singles Report and published Artist Top 50, Starboy’s peak at #1 isn’t as clear cut as previous chart toppers. The biggest push for Starboy has always come from Spotify. Now on its eighth week topping the streaming service’s Australian chart, the rest of the music platforms have finally followed suit. Starboy holds its peak at #2 on the iTunes chart as well as the Hot 100. With no shared #1 across either platforms, it’s been given a rare opportunity to rise. Last week’s #1, Rockabye, is still #1 on the iTunes chart and #2 on Spotify, but has dropped to #5 on the Hot 100. It’s still unclear whether there will be one definitive ‘summer anthem’ that makes itself known over the Christmas break.

Blowing all competition out of the water this week is the collaboration between Zayn & Taylor Swift on I Don’t Wanna Live Forever, taken from the soundtrack to the new Fifty Shades Darker film. Added to the Ash London Live show, Nova Network and Hit Regional Network, it was one of the only tracks to
elicit a big response from radio this week. The other new collaboration, Steve Aoki & Louis Tomlinson’s (of One Direction) Just Hold On, was the only track to see similar success. With similar additions across the board, the glaring omission that set the two apart was the track missing out on a Nova Network addition.

RWith the year coming to a close, there are very few singles left that haven’t already been serviced to radio. One of the exceptions is Krewella’s Team which takes this weeks #1 Single To Radio. The dance music duo’s latest hit is a move in the direction of commercial EDM, something that has historically been a strong point for the group. The single comes out ahead of their scheduled performance at Sydney’s Marquee nightclub for New Years Eve 2016. Hitimpulses’s rendition of O.T Genasis’ viral hit I’m In Love With The Coco will hit commercial too. The track has already seen huge success online, earning over 5 million views on YouTube and a mammoth 14 million streams on Spotify. Go to www.themusicnetwork.com/charts to view all this week’s Singles To Radio and Most Added singles.
