The Music Network Chart Wrap: July 28

Hot 100

Calvin Harris remains at #1 yet again with This Is What You Came For ft. Rihanna. The Veronicas are now in striking position to take the top spot however, with In My Blood now sitting comfortably up at #2 from #4. Little Mix’s Hair moves up to #4 from #10 while Drake moves another track into the Top 10 with his next single at #9 from #11, Too Good.

Usher narrowly misses out on the Top 10 this week with Crash landing at #12 from #18. It’s his highest charting single since Scream, which peaked at #10 in late 2012. Anne-Marie’s Alarm moves to #17 from #30, now closer to matching her previous best with Do It Right, which peaked at #13.

Illy’s Papercuts ft. Vera Blue sees a leap at #30 from #68 on its second week in the chart, as does DJ Mustard’s Don’t Hurt Me ft. Nicki Minaj & Jeremih at #45 from #84. Most moved this week is Alfie Arcuri’s Cruel. Last week’s most added track to radio hits #44 from #88.

Some high debuts take place on this week’s chart, starting at #20 with the new Katy Perry hit Rise. 5 Seconds Of Summer’s Ghostbusters single Girls Talk Boys is not far behind at #5. Further down at #52 is Snakehips’ Cruel ft. ZAYN. It’s followed by Jonas Blue’s Perfect Stranger debuting at #53 and Matt Simons’ Catch & Release at #54.

ARIA Singles

It’s been almost two years since Katy Perry made her last new entry into the chart with This Is How We Do. Now she’s back with a huge #1 debut, Rise, her anthem for the upcoming Olympic games.

Illy makes the next notable change at#8 from #37 with new hit Papercuts ft. Vera Blue. It becomes a new career peak for the rapper and adds to an already memorable weekend for him, following his performance at Splendour In The Grass. Little Mix take their fourth Top 10 single on the ARIA Singles chart with Platinum-selling single Hair. Their current peak is at #3 which they took with Wingsin 2012.

5 Seconds Of Summer take the next notable debut at #21 with Girls Talk Boys, lifted from the new Ghostbusters soundtrack. It’s the highest Australian charting single from the soundtrack thus far.

ARIA Albums

Good Charlotte have secured their second #1 on the ARIA Albums chart this week with Youth Authority, the album that has broken their six-year drought. They last topped the chart with The Chronicles Of Life And Death in October of 2004.

Their debut pushes The Avalanches’ Wildflower to #2, still outselling the debut of Peter Garrett’s A Version Of Now, which enters at #3. His debut solo album is the first new music from Garrett related since Midnight Oil’s Capricornia in 2002.

Emma Louise’s Supercry makes its debut at #14, just two spots short of previous peak #12 that she earned with her debut vs Head vs Heart.

Stonefield’s sophomore release As Above, So Below enters at #19 and makes for a new career peak. It’s followed by the new Ghostbusters soundtrack, debuting at #21. It’s likely we’ll see more singles from the soundtrack chart in the coming weeks, especially the G-Eazy & Jeremih collaboration Saw It Coming.
