Radio’s first and only social media charts

Radio Today will launch Australia’s first social media-based charts for the radio industry next week.

The Radio Today Social 20 will include three exclusive charts to measure the online performance of Radio Shows, Radio Stations and Personalities & Presenters.

Powered by BrandData, each chart will be published weekly and tracks 41 weighted engagement events across five online channels – website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube.

Radio Today publisher and editor Jake Challenor said that following reader feedback of Social Scorecard – a new weekly Saturday column highlighting top social posts from radio shows – that there is a definite appetite for more social media editorial that relates to radio.

“As all the networks build their digital assets, social is becoming more and more important as a platform to engages listeners and to generate and develop new revenue streams,” Challenor said.

“This is happening at a station, show and talent level. Radio Today‘s new Social 20 charts will allow the industry to benchmark and track its performance online.”

Ahead of next week’s reveal of the first official Radio Today Social 20 charts, today we can share the top five from this week’s Radio Shows, Radio Stations and Personalities & Presenters charts.

Social 20 Radio Shows:

KIIS 1065’s Kylie & Jackie O top this week’s chart which monitors 64 of Australia’s top radio shows. Submit your show here.

Sydney’s 2GB top this week’s Radio Stations chart, with triple j Unearthed at #5, ahead of triple j. 63 of Australia’s top radio stations are already monitored. Submit your station here.

The Social 20 weighting system is generated by an ongoing survey of brand managers by BrandData, ensuring objectivity and relevance – some events weight very low, while others are very high.

The first of the news charts to premiere next week will be the Radio Today Social 20 Shows, followed by Radio Stations and then Personalities & Presenters.
