Hear Zan Rowe Take 5 with Paul McCartney on triple j

Former Assistant Editor

As triple j’s Zan Rowe prepares to wrap up her time at the station before moving to Double J in 2018, she hosted the great Sir Paul McCartney in one of her final Take 5 segments.

McCartney took Zan through five of his greatest songs, picking them out from his incredibly extensive catalogue from his work with The Beatles and as a solo artist.

He began with The Beatles’ 1968 track ‘Blackbird,’ before jumping into his solo career and work with Wings, showcasing ‘Band On The Run’ and ‘Jet,’ as well as ‘Temporary Secretary.’

McCartney wrapped things up with The Beatles’ original version of ‘Golden Slumbers’/’Carry That Weight’/’The End.’

He also reflected on how his songwriting process has changed over the years and spoke of how the desire to write music normally peaks when he’s taking some time off or just bored.

Check out the tracklist in full below, and hear the full segment here.
