Sam Cavanagh “content must be shareable”

Staff Writer

Sam Cavanagh impressed a crowded room this afternoon at the radio conference during his presentation of "Fans not Listeners".

During the presentation Sam discussed the success of shows like Hamish & Andy and Fifi & Jules and talked about the lessons that they have learnt through those shows, and how that has an application across all content areas.

In creating 'Fans not Listeners', Sam stressed the importance of making your content 'shareable', and that in his view the partnership of radio and social media fits 'beautifully'.

Sam said he strives to come up with content ideas that tick the following boxes;

  • it must create a PR opportunity in other media
  • it must be an event
  • it must work online
  • it must be able to work on social media platforms

Sam said that the filter for the show is not just creating 'radio content', but creating 'content' that just so happens to work for radio.

Sam's presentation also impressed some other presenters;
