Australia’s highly regarded course for future content and program directors begins 27 February.

The AFTRS course is designed to develop students’ programming, management and leadership skills to a professional standard.

Recent alumna James Findlay – now producer of triple j’s Sunday night sex-ed show The Hook Up, completed the course last year. For James, this is the culmination of years of related work.

“You can always learn more,” he said.

“Even if you’ve been in radio for years or even decades, you can still learn something new”.

Adrien McEniery, program director at Melbourne’s 3MBS initially enrolled in the online AFTRS leadership course out of curiosity.

“I wanted to know more about the business of radio and the concepts behind it, different principles of programming, how to build and engage teams across the station, conflict management, program improvement and management…all of it. It’s all interesting!” he said.

If you are an experienced radio staff member working in the commercial or community broadcasting sectors looking to step up to management, content and programming roles, this is for you.

Content and Program Directors takes place over two, sixteen week semesters with four subjects, two per semester.

A weekend residential workshop is a highlight of the course, attracting Industry leaders from around Australia to speak at AFTRS Moore Park, Sydney.
