Remembering Richard Marsland

It was this day in 2008 that we lost Richard Marsland.

#ImRichard is being used today to celebrate all those that knew or worked with him.

More below....

Here's just a couple of memorable bits from Get This starring Richard.

While I never met Richard in real life, I remember when I was a wide eyed 13 year old teenager who was MAJORLY into radio. I heard Richard mention on SAFM that they were doing a 'jocks free weekend' where listeners to got go on air over the weekend and take the station over. I jumped straight online and entered, rattling off how much I loved radio etc.

Sadly, I didn't get chosen - however Richard took the time out to personally email me back telling me how he got into radio, what I should do to get into radio and how disappointed he was I never got chosen. A few years ago I got back in touch with him on Facebook informing him I was now in the industry and he remembered me and kept in contact.

If there were more people like him in this industry it'll be an even more magical place.

Gone too soon...
