Vale Peter Dean

Perth radio and TV personality Peter Dean died on Tuesday night at the age of 74 after battling motor neurone disease.

Dean's most famous radio roles were at 6IX and 6PR in a career spanning 5 decades.

John Fryer was his co-host on 6IX’s morning show 'Can We Help You' for 14 years in the 60's and 70's. He spoke to 6PR's Paul Murray after the news :-

“In that time, we were very successful in our ratings – it was just like a marriage."

“We just had an unbelievable understanding between the two of us; it was just something you couldn’t explain."

“We had mail and messages coming from all over the place, including America, wanting to know what the format was, and we couldn’t give it to them, because it just happened.”
