Over 6,500 items for KOFM’s Help the Homeless

Staff Writer

This morning, KOFM’s David & Tanya held an OB at the Wesley Mission Centre to end their 'Help the Homeless' campaign (see our previous story here).

For 2 weeks they asked locals to donate toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo plus any spare blankets.

With over 6,500 items being donated, it was a massive success.

Tanya said, “It was a morning full of emotions: from joy at the thousands of donations that flooded in all morning to sadness and utter despair at some of the tragic stories we witnessed.”

Susan McGuiness from Newcastle’s Wesley Mission said, “Today was a wonderful coming together of people from the community who donated items, the KOFM team, workers from Community Service Organisations and people experiencing homelessness.

“The donations will be shared between many other services including; local Non-Government Organisations, Women & Children’s Refuges, Men’s Hostels and Hunter Homeless Connect Day.”
