Rate my Rack radio comp gets on ACA

Rebel FM is currently running a comp that asks female listeners to send in a pic of their breasts for a chance to win $1000.

The contest has been featured on A Current Affair in story called 'Sexy or Sexist ?'

Rebel FM has responded to the story, saying:

Rebel FM provides a niche adult rock service aimed at 25+ demographic. Promotions are designed to directly target that audience only, and is broadly similar to the type of promotions run for years on leading rock stations around the world. The promotion is similar to "Model Search" competitions run every day in pubs and clubs, calendar shoot competitions and the like.

The competition rules and regulations strictly forbid the posting of any indecent photos and entry is only open to people 18 years and over. All entries are verified for eligibility by staff prior to publication. Entrants enter voluntarily, andmay withdraw their photos at any time.

It's a tongue-in-cheek competition and it is important that in 2014 we maintain perspective with competitions like these. There is no nudity and these entrants could just as well feature in a swimwear calendar sold in the local newsagent. The entrants are not rude and are attired like women you might find strolling on a busy public Gold Coast beach with children and families around.

We mix up our competitions to feature both men and women. We have previously run similar shoot and calendar competitions featuring men only and never received complaints. We even sold out of those calendars.

Despite one written complaint to this station, the response to this promotion has been overwhelmingly positive.
