96five LIVE from Africa

Staff Writer

Liam, Robbie and Ness from the 96five breaky show are broadcasting live each day this week in Tanzania.

The show is being done live in real time and starts at 11pm local Tanzanian time and finishes at 2am.

Breaky host Liam Renton said, " I feel like I'm on mid dawns again! Except I can’t duck down to the Black Thunder goodie stash and load up on icy cold coke and Daydawn muesli  bars like I did back in the day"

The guys are showcasing the work of CBM AUSTRALIA, and have spent their days visiting villages and witnessing live cataract operations in actual third world hospitals.

A highlight for the team was to give the gift of song back to the local villagers ( as seen below) and in an effort to take any pressure off the locals, they decided to put themselves under the spotlight by performing for them.

"It was our way of making the locals feel at ease and let them laugh at the funny white guys who've come into their village" show co host Robbie Parkin said

"The kids just lived it and we felt a real connection on a level that didn't need any actual language. It was an amazing experience for the whole team. “

The concept of doing a show for the locals started as a story arc just weeks ago, with Liam never touch a ukulele less than 6 weeks ago, and taking up lessons just to be able to add another level of interaction to the show.
