Mel Greig “sent bullets”

Staff Writer

With Mel Greig  appearing at UK Radio Festival this week  talking about the dangers of On-Air pranks, overnight she was interviewed at length on the BBC’s Newsnight.

Mel revealed that as well as bullets being sent in the post, she had been stalked and harassed for 18 months.

"I was in lockdown for months. There were bullets with our name on it sent to police stations”, Mel Greig said.

"That won't stop until I take my own life, which is not going to happen,"

Mel then talked about being a victim of internet trolling, saying that it needs to stop.

"To me it's quite hypocritical. They are calling me a bully, 'look what you've done, you're a horrible person'.

"What do you think you are doing to me by writing those tweets and telling me to end my life or blood on my hands, 'you don't deserve to live'?

"They are doing the same thing. Trolling needs to stop.”

"Luckily I can handle it now, but there was a time when I could not handle it and I believed it."

She also told Newsnight that at one point someone had rung her mother and said "eye for an eye, you deserve to die".

Since the Prank call, Mel is now lobbying the radio industry to reject prank content On-Air. Saying that we need to look out for each other, as you don't know the mental state of the person at the centre of the prank.
