Alan Jones facing defamation

Staff Writer

Well that didn’t take long. Appears that Alan Jones has his first defamation cases filed in Queensland Supreme Court.

Both Premier Campbell Newman and Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney have lodged defamation action against Alan Jones.

This morning on Brisbane’s News Talk 4BC, Alan Jones was quick off the mark to highlight that he finally had some “correspondence” from the Queensland Premier.

“I’ve been waiting to hear from Campbell Newman for a long time”, Alan said.

“Nice to hear from you, Mr Newman”

“You remain a bit of a political novice if you think that’s the way to win an election or to silence people, you need to actually think again, but thanks for writing.”

The claims relate to comments made by Alan Jones on 4BC surrounding the further development of Acland coal mine, west of Toowoomba.

Alan returned to 4BC this week and it didn’t take him long to let them know he was back as he laid into the Queensland Premier and other members of the current government.
