“It’s time”: ABC’s Stan Thomson to retire

Staff Writer

After 27 years, Stan Thomson from ABC South East is retiring.

Stan started in commercial radio in the 1970s and became a Program Director in the then Advertiser Broadcasting Network.

In 1988 Stan was approached to head up the morning show for ABC Radio from the south east of SA in Mount Gambier.

“This was a bold step on the part of the ABC”,said Stan, “but it worked and I was privileged to be part of it”.

“Working in regional radio has been a joy, being able to bring audiences the local entertainment and current affairs they crave everyday has been my goal”, said Stan.

Stan Thomson will present his final program on Friday 31 July.

“I will miss radio and the making of programs, particularly those that reflect the culture and value of Regional Australia”, said Stan.
