Rhys Holleran’s exit as CEO of Southern Cross Austereo has moved forward.

After six years in charge, insiders have told Radio Today Rhys Holleran’s exit from the group will happen sooner than July 31, even as early as this Friday.

When SXL announced to the market Rhys was leaving on May 11, Chairman Peter Bush said he would assist in the transition period and finish up on July 31.

However it pans out, it will bring to a close an 18 year association that has seen a regional radio group grow, and become the massive Southern Cross Austereo.

Rhys Holleran has worked in the industry for 28 years. By 1997 he became Managing Director of RG Capital Radio based on the Gold Coast. Fast forward to 2009, he went on to become the CEO of Southern Cross Media Group.   That group went onto acquire Austereo in 2011 for around $714 million with Rhys leading and overseeing the merger between the two groups.
