Andrew Denton turns his hand to Podcasting

Staff Writer

Andrew Denton has been a part of not one, but two top rating radio shows. Triple M Sydney as a writer and on-air with Doug Mulray in the 80’s as “Andrew the boy wonder from indoor cricket”;  and then teaming up with Amanda Keller in the 90’s . He finished full time radio in 2001. And now he is turning his hand to Podcasting.

For the past several months he has been working on a podcast series on euthanasia. The series called Better off Dead will be ready early next year.

He is producing the series with support from the Wheeler Centre. Denton has spent most of this year travelling around the world collecting stories and interviews for the series.

Andrew said, “For mine, the best storytelling in the media today is happening in podcasting. From This American Life to Radiolab, Serial to StartUp, there is interesting and inspirational stuff everywhere”.

“Podcasting also suits what I’m doing with BETTER OFF DEAD, which is to put a sustained, well-researched and produced, argument on the public record, in favour of assisted dying.

“It’s not necessarily something that everybody will want to listen to every episode of. But it will sit there, permanently, as a resource, a tool, and a weapon, for those who, like me, are deeply troubled that good people are being forced to die bad deaths in Australia”.

Andrew has already mastered radio, TV, theatre, film and production, so it’s no surprise he has decided to enter into the exciting new world of Podcasting.
