Nova’s Katie Mattin’s battle with MS

Staff Writer

Nova 106.9’s Katie Mattin has signed on as an ambassador for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Queensland. It has been seven years since Katie was diagnosed with MS, something she had only shared with family and very close friends.

In the Sunday Mail feature yesterday Katie shared her experience on how she found out about her diagnosis at age 25.

“The thing I found really hard was the realisation that one day you can be completely fine and the next day somebody gives you news that changes everything”,she told the Sunday Mail.

Katie also spoke of her husband’s support, Nova 106.9 PD and General Manager, Jay Walkerden.

“With MS, no two people’s experiences are the same, so it’s a lot of ‘what if this happens?’. I remember my husband saying to me ‘hang on a second, what if it doesn’t?”, said Katie.

On the weekend of June 19, Katie, Jay and the family will be riding 10k in the MS Society of Queensland’s Brissie to the Bay bike ride. Last year the event saw 9000 riders take to the road and raise $1.8 million for  sufferers of MS.
