Nova’s Kip and Luttsy come to blows on air over who came up with a joke
Kip Wightman and David “Luttsy” Lutteral of Ash, Kip & Luttsy were engaged in a physical altercation on air on Wednesday.
Newscorp reports that things kicked off when the Nova 106.9 Brisbane breakfast hosts began arguing about who had come up with a joke first.
The joke itself originated at previous team meeting, where someone on the team quipped “that term makes me sick, more like social influenza.”
Wightman and Lutteral argued extensively about who made the joke first, both claiming it belonged to them, while their co-hosts Susie O’Neill and Ash Bradnam weren’t able to shed much light on the situation.
It all came to a head when Lutteral said “he’s gotta stop stealing my ideas, ya just can’t get away with this.”
To which Wightman responded “Oh get… don’t call me a fucking liar,” before scuffling sounds could be heard, followed by silence, and then Luttsy saying “He punched me!”
“He’s stormed out, he’s not happy,” Luttsy then said. “Is he serious? He shaped up at me.”
On Thursday’s show Wightman apologised for his behaviour.
“Yesterday on the show I left the mics up and I made the mistake of using foul language,” he said.
“I apologise and I regret that. Furthermore when I had my integrity questioned I reacted aggressively and I also regret and apologise for that.”
A Nova spokesperson had reportedly denied any physical contact took place during the altercation.
Anyone who has seen there online videos knows there is a panel between Kip & Luttsy…
Is this a stunt? How about posting the audio?
If there was physical violence involved they should be suspended.
Imagine if this was Kyle or Ray Hadley? Big news, headline news. Yet Brisbane breakfast show threatening violence hardly rates a mention? Hard to understand.
Let’s discuss community?
Real or fake?
I say real.
Real for sure. I can’t believe this wasn’t front page in courier mail. End of year, tired breakfast guys, always going to happen. Still the best show in brisbane. (By far)
