Rove & Sam’s last show with the Hit Network is today

Southern Cross Austereo has confirmed that Rove McManus and Sam Frost will today broadcast their final show together on the Hit Network.

The comedian and reality TV star were shunted into the 7pm slot in January, following a short and unsuccessful stint on 2Day FM breakfast.

In a statement issued to Radio Today, a spokesperson for SCA confirmed the departure.

“Rove and Sam’s 7-8pm show on the Hit Network will finish up today, June 30.

“Rove’s remaining within the SCA family and working on a new project with another part of our business. Sam’s contract has now ended, and we wish her well with her upcoming TV work.”

McManus, who was lured to the network by CEO Grant Blackley, was reportedly paid $3.7 million per year to join the SCA-owned Hit Network in a bid to recover rating losses.

Co-host Frost, however, was rumoured to be earning about $250,000 per year.

And as the 2017 fiscal year comes to a close today, it now appears that the network is writing off any losses that may be associated with the pair.

On breakfast, Rove & Sam delivered a 3% audience share in the first survey of 2016 and ended the year with a 3.8% share.

Since the departure of the Kyle & Jackie O show to ARN-owned KIIS 106.5, 2Day FM has rolled out a succession of breakfast shows that have failed to cut through and win over Sydney listeners.

Em Rusciano & Harley Breen , who replaced McManus and Frost this year, have also struggled to gain traction in Australia’s most competitive metro market.

In the most recent 2017 GfK survey, Em Rusciano & Harley Breen delivered a 3% share of the Sydney audience, down 1% on the survey prior.
