Simon Baggs launches radio and podcasting course

Former Publisher

Simon Baggs is putting his two decades of experience in commercial radio to good use, launching a new course for radio and podcasting professionals.

The Audio College, which officially opened for business on Sunday, hopes to “discover and develop the next generation of commercial radio and podcast stars”.

Courses start at AU $699 for a five-week online intensive covering industry trends, voice coaching, content and idea generation, podcasting, finding a gig and more. Classes start November 21.

All students will be a part of live group classes, have access to a closed Facebook group, receive the official Audio College Ebook and get weekly feedback from Baggs.

On the Audio College website, Baggs has penned a number blogs about his time in radio, including one about how his first day of work almost became his last.

Luckily for Baggs it wasn’t. He went on to produce some of radio’s finest moments.

His Bring Ellen Down Under campaign went viral and eventually took him all the way to LA to appear live on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. More recently, his runway gig on Facebook saw Queensland band Sheppard perform live at the Gold Coast Airport during the pandemic.

Baggs has worked in some of Australia’s most competitive markets including Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Newcastle and the Gold Coast where he co-hosts Hot Tomato Drive with Moyra Major.

Prior to joining Hot Tomato, Baggs co-hosted Breakast at Hit Newcastle.
