Survey #1 2017 results are in for the Gold Coast, QLD

Staff Writer

Hot Tomato is again the most listened to station on the Gold Coast with 18.4%, claiming a 4.5% increase in people 10+ in the year’s first book released by GfK and Commercial Radio Australia.

The station secured a substantial win overall, this time running away with the victory after last survey’s marginal win of only 0.5%.

Flan & Emily Jade with Christo breakfast show is also #1 in market with a 19.1% share, up 4.6 points – well in front of Gold FM (11.4%) and SeaFM (11.7%) in the time slot.

It’s a similar story at drive with Hot Tomato’s Galey, Mal & Moyra stealing nearly one-quarter of the listenership at 20.3%, bumping up 5.3 points from the previous survey.

Hot Tomato yielded an unusually high gain in the 25 to 39 demographic, improving by an unprecedented 17.9%.

Smashed it. Great work to the HT team.

Those numbers don’t make any sense. HT more than doubling its 25-39’s is clearly
and anomaly. Id be asking for a recount if I was SCA.

The numbers would appear to be flawed in the 25-39’s. No-one gets a 17.9% jump in one demo. It just doesn’t happen. That would throw the entire book out. I’d be asking for a recount.

If SCA owned Hot Tomato it would be a Triple M

Hot Tomato is hot. And it is an example of how an independent station can take on the big boys and win. I was on the Gold Coast in January. Hit90.9 on the GC sounded like 2DayFM in Sydney sounded like Fox in Melbourne sounded like Hit106.9 in Newcastle sounded like Hit105 Brisbane.
Hot Tomato sounded like the Gold Coast. It was made for the GC. Apart from an hour of Kyle and Jackie O on weeknights and two hours of Fitzy and Wippa on Saturday night – Hot Tomato is local. 100% Gold Coast. It’s the 4GG of 2017.
Congrats to the team!

What a win! HT have been sounding exceptionally fresh of late.

Concerning for Gold. What happened to the once heritage station?

Great to see Hot Tomato killing it, especially beating talk and sport station “Triple M” Gold FM.

People on the GC obviously like Galey. SeaFm should never have parted ways with the man.

Sorry, but this is nonsense. Something very wrong with these figures. HOT Tomato may have won, but these gains are highly improbable.

If you have ever listened to five minutes of Sea FM’s breakfast idiots or Bridge’s daily blubber fests it isn’t surprising that HT has smashed it.
