107.9 Life vs Nova 100: Who wore it better?

Staff Writer

They say that no ideas are original in radio, and then there’s the old saying that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Life 107.9 presenter Aiden Grant wasn’t feeling flattered though when he discovered a segment on Nova 100 that was remarkably similar to one of his own.

Grant told listeners that he was “shocked” to hear that Chrissie, Sam & Browny were searching for the youngest Trevor in Melbourne.

Every Monday, Grant plays ‘The Name Game’ where he searches for the youngest listener with any given name.

“There has been a left!” he said. “I was sent in some audio from a very keen listener of the show.

“It’s pretty damning, apparently there’s a show in Melbourne that is stealing ideas from this very show!”

“They did a segment that seemed veeery familiar to me,” he continued, before playing back the Chrissie, Sam & Browny audio back.

The next day, Grant decided to retaliate.

“There’s only me on this radio show,” he told his colleague Kit from the station.

The pair of them then playing regular Nova 100 Breakfast segment ‘Dead Or Alive’.

Did Chrissie, Sam & Browny steal the segment? We’ll leave that up to you.

Hahaha! So good. Spelling for Aidens name is incorrect.

I’d be surprised if there was a breakfast show that hasn’t done a version of this segment at some stage. We asked for the youngest Gary a couple of years ago on our show, and the youngest Brenda on another occasion. It’s a cute way to get calls, but hardly a new idea.

Nova 100 do Dead or Alive ? That’s an old Kyle and Jackie segment. Never thought I’d see the day when Chrissie Swan was stealing K&J content. The idea was originally from America.
