2DayFM Breakfast: Ash London confirmed as permanent Em Rusciano replacement

Former Assistant Editor

2DayFM has confirmed that Ash London will formally join the Grant, Ed and Ash Breakfast show as of 2019, as part of the Hit Network’s presenter lineup announcement.

London has filled in as a temporary replacement alongside Grant Denyer and Ed Kavalee since the departure of Em Rusciano.

Ash won’t be sacrificing her Nights show entirely though, but it will run shorter. In 2019, Ash London Live will air from 6:30pm-8pm.

“We are so thrilled Ash has agreed to join our 2DayFM breakfast team full-time next year,” said Hit Network head of content Gemma Fordham.

“She is the real deal, connects authentically with audiences and brings a fun, fresh and frank take on the day. The chemistry she has with Grant and Ed will only continue to flourish and we are excited about what is ahead for them!

“2DayFM breakfast is committed to playing more music when you wake up because we know that’s what our audience wants and that’s the 2DayFM difference.”

Danny Lakey, who has been filling in on Ash’s usual slot, gets his own Late Nights show from 8pm-11pm, with a new host for his old Mid-Dawn shift yet to be announced.

The movement sees Collective Noun bumped a bit later, to an 11pm-1am slot.

The other key change on Breakfast comes on Adelaide’s Hit107, where Bec and Cosi will continue their recently-launched show.

“In all dayparts the Hit Network has never been stronger and continues to grow with the best of the best leading our shows across the country,” Fordham said.

“Audiences love our line-up of talent and our ever-evolving music strategy that sets us apart from the pack.

“We will kick off the year with a brand-new breakfast show for Adelaide with local icons and darlings Andrew ‘Cosi’ Costello and Rebecca ‘Bec’ Morse which we know will resonate with South Australians. We can’t wait for another cracking year in 2019!”

Nationally, Those Two Girls keeping their 5am-6am early slot.

There are also no changes on Hit Network’s split National Drive show with Carrie and Tommy followed by Hughesy and Kate.

‘Never been stronger’ – I don’t believe that!

I remember dozens of times when it was stronger….. where to start? KJ, Hot30, Matt & Jo….. and that’s just three….

Have to agree with Harder, Better, Faster, STRONGER

You don’t have to even say ‘Never been stronger’ – So many other ways to create hype. And you should… Just don’t lie.

This is another PR mistake… You are lying to the audience … again

So the comment from ARN about Kate jumping ship mid-term to leave Hughesy on his own doesn’t seem to have come to fruition…

Is Ash still on nights then ? And broadcasting from Melbourne with Ed ?
Sydney deserves its own show surely.

Why on earth would you have one of your key breakfast talents on a station that is dead in the water also do a national nights show? Where is the focus? I don’t remember seeing nights figures that amazing they couldn’t afford to take her off. I don’t know Ash, I’m sure she’s lovely, but I don’t get the hype. Surely SCA could come up with something better than an hour and a half show that’s probably recorded at 10am and rolled out at night.
