2SER FM reach local fundraising target of $30K for new antenna

Sydney community radio station 2SER FM has reached its antenna fundraising campaign target of $30,000 in just over two weeks.

The fundraising campaign was launched to replace its FM antenna after a lightning strike caused severe damage, seriously disrupting the station’s ability to continue to broadcast.

Station manager Martin Walters thanks supporters shortly after reaching the milestone.

“Over 40 years this station has meant a great amount to a great many people, and it’s wonderful that so many listeners responded to this appeal in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.

“We sincerely thank everyone for their generosity and look forward to getting that new antenna installed on top of the UTS Tower,” Walters said/

Music industry identities lent their support to the campaign, with endorsements coming in from the Tim Rogers, Regurgitator, Violent Soho, L-Fresh The Lion and Jen Cloher.

The campaign kicked off on June 1, while the station’s FM signal was off the air for part of the day, only amplifying the importance of replacing the equipment.

2SER will be sharing the progress of the new antenna’s installation on-air, in their email communications with listeners and on their Facebook page.
