Rejoice! Deadline for 30 Under 30 Awards entry extended

Former Editor & Content Director

In a year where time is somehow moving exceedingly slowly, March appeared to go for 25 years, and yet there’s still no time to get anything done, you could be forgiven for running out of time to put your entry together for Radio Today’s inaugural 30 Under 30 Awards.

And forgiven you are, with the deadline now being extended until 11:59pm (AEDT) Friday, October 23 to give people more time to compile their entry.

So far, there have been some excellent early entries, with the On-Air, Content and News categories proving most popular to date. You can see a preview of entries here.

Marketers, so often so excellent at marketing and promoting their brands and stations, but not necessarily themselves, haven’t submitted as many entries thus far. The Podcasting and Music categories have also had fewer entries than the other categories.

Employees from Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), ACE Radio and Australian Radio Network (ARN) have been the quickest out of the gate, submitting the most entries to date.

51% of entrants have identified as female, with 47% male, and the rest preferring not to disclose.

To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen living in Australia. Much like the title of the awards, you must have been aged 30 or under on 1 September, 2020, and have been employed in radio, audio or podcasting throughout the year.

Those who have recently lost their jobs, or changed industries due to the pandemic and economic conditions, are still eligible to enter and win.

The 10 categories for year one are Sales, On-Air, Programming & Content, Marketing, Music, Production, News, Podcasting, Digital, and Campaigns.

The shortlist will be revealed in November, ahead of the virtual event on Thursday November 26, when winners will be announced.

Three winners from each category will be chosen by Radio Today’s all-star judging panel, while the wider industry will also have its say via the Reader’s Choice poll.

The initiative is supported by ARN, Nine, SCA, NOVA, ACE and Sony Music.
