Hamish Blake, Andy Lee and Chrissie Swan named as finalists for AACTA Awards

Former Editor & Content Director

The finalists for the Audience Choice categories at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) have been revealed, and include a number of radio personalities.

Nova Melbourne’s Breakfast co-host Chrissie Swan has made the list of nominees for Favourite TV Contestant of the Decade, for her appearance on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here in 2015. During her time in ‘the jungle’ Swan formed a notable friendship with comedian Joel Creasey, who now has a starring role on Nova’s Drive show alongside Tim Blackwell and Kate Ritchie.

Swan is up against another former radio personality, Sam Frost.

Frost is nominated for her stint on The Bachelor in 2014. Frost was then also The Bachelorette in 2015, and appeared on Hell’s Kitchen Australia in 2017. She was one of many media personalities to be trialled for 2Day FM Breakfast, taking on the role alongside Rove McManus in 2016, however she was replaced by Em Rusicano and Harley Breen in 2017.

Another former 2Day FM Breakfast host, Sophie Monk, has been shortlisted for the category, but did not make the nominees list. Monk had been listed for her role as The Bachelorette in 2017

In the Favourite Comedy Performer of the Decade category, SCA’s Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, who currently host two podcasts on PodcastOne, are nominated. Shortlisted options also included former Triple M Hot Breakfast co-host Wil Anderson, and soon-to-be 2Day FM Breakfast co-host Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, however they didn’t make the final list of nominees.

The winners of the AACTA Audience Choice Awards will be revealed at 8:30pm tonight on Channel 7.

It’s the first time the AACTAs has included audience participation. The Awards program is celebrating its 10th year, so voters have chosen their favourite moments and personalities from the past decade.
