ABC get the vinyl out

Staff Writer

Next weekend, 27-29 April, ABC Digital Radio is having a 'Back to Vinyl' weekend.

The weekend will be hosted by a number of ABC Radio's biggest names, playing their favourite tracks off vinyl. Presenters will include Red Symons (774 Melbourne), Robbie Buck (Radio National), Lindsay McDougall (Triple J's Doctor) and Francis Leach (ABC Grandstand).

They will be joined by some off-air names who will feature their vinyl selections: Arnold Frollows, Stuart Matchett, and Holger Brockman amongst others.

The inspiration for the 'Back to Vinyl' concept came from the recent death of the ABC's Russell Stendell (left) who began his career at 2JJ in 1976 in Sydney.

Speaking of Stendell, Manager of ABC Digital Radio, Tony Walker, said "Not only did he know the music, he also knew about it.  And not just rock and pop, but also classical"
