The ABC‘s new rural and regional weekday current affairs program Australia Wide will begin next week.

The weekday program will run for 25 minutes on more than 40 ABC regional radio stations, kicking off at 6:05pm on Monday January 22.

The program will then be relayed to Radio National and ABC Radio Australia weeknights at 7:35pm.

“We’ve put a great team behind the program, headed by WA-based presenter Sinéad Mangan and Senior Producer, Bridget Fitzgerald,” said director of ABC Regional Fiona Reynolds.

“The launch of Australia Wide gives those living in local communities a stronger voice in national conversations and builds on our commitment as Australia’s national broadcaster to reflect the whole of Australia in our news and information.

“It also reflects our commitment to provide more in-depth reporting of regional issues.”

Australia Wide will source stories from the ABC regional radio network, as well as its national regional reporting team – with a focus on issues affecting people in rural and regional Australia.

The new program will be produced by Sinéad Mangan from ABC’s Perth studios.
