ABC On The Road to Toowoomba
Some of the ABC’s best known national programs will be On The Road and heading to Toowoomba in Queensland.
For one week from October 26, a number of ABC journalists, presenters and crew will join the local ABC Toowoomba team to produced their programs and shows not only across radio but television, news and online.
ABC Local Radio’s AM with Michael Brissenden, triple j’s Hack, Australia All Over with Macca and Life Matters on Radio National are just a few of the network shows to come from the Garden city on the Darling Downs.
On The Road is part of the new ABC Regional division’s commitment to rural and regional Australia to ensure their voices are heard on the network’s national platforms.
ABC Managing Director Mark Scott said: “Our audiences have told us they want more regional content and one way for us to do this is to send our teams to those towns and centres and ask them what’s going on locally.
“Despite the technological changes that have created a global village, some of our oldest and most established communities are becoming increasingly cut-off from the national conversation, particularly as other media outlets in those regions continues to downsize. We want to meet the locals and become the eyes and ears for the rest of the nation.”
On the Road in Toowoomba will close with an ABC Family Day event on Saturday October 31,
