ACE’s Jon Vertigan shares radio he made 30 years ago

Former Assistant Editor

ACE Radio host Jon Vertigan is a self-confessed radio nerd, so during his time off recently he learnt a new skill.

Jon had kept old cassette tapes of himself calling into radio shows as a 16-year-old, and in his forced time off after surgery, he learnt to convert them to mp3 files.

Returning back to The Morning Rush he shared some classic moments of audio with Kate Meade and his listeners from 3YBFM, GOLD 1242, 3CS, 3WM ,3HA, 3SH, 3NE and 2QN.

“Something I’ve been meaning to do for ages is get all my old audio cassettes and put them on to computers.

“God, I found some horrific stuff I recorded as a kid.”

Hi Jon. Great to hear the calls. But are you the Jon Vertigan I know? You look and sound way too young. The one I know was a big star with the Greater 3UZ during the early 70’s and I later worked with him briefly at 2UE in the late 80s. No prizes for guessing my age now 🙂
