Former Macquarie Media bosses behind new biz podcast

Adam Lang, the former chief executive of Macquarie Media, has launched a podcast with the network’s former national executive producer, Michael Thompson.

Fear And Greed is a daily podcast which launched on May 15, hosted by economist and journalist Sean Aylmer, and promises to deliver business news in under 20 minutes.

As well as the top stories and why they matter, Fear And Greed will feature an interview each day, according to an email from Lang to Radio Today spruiking the new show.

Each episode, released to all major podcast outlets through the Omny Studio platform, is published at about 6.30am each weekday and is produced by Thompson.

Lang told Radio Today the new venture was a partnership with both Thomspon and Aylmer.

As was widely speculated at the time, Lang left Macquarie Media last October after a turbulent 18-month run in the role following the takeover of its AM radio network by Nine.

The widely-respected executive also played a major role in the development of Macquarie Media during the 2015 merger between the Macquarie Radio and Fairfax Radio networks.

Thompson left the business one month after Lang and 11 years with the broadcaster. His first job was a producing gig on Ray Hadley’s show, where he later spent six years as executive producer.

Today’s episode (May 20) of Fear And Greed covers the trade dispute between Australia and China, the challenges of domestic travel and an interview with Cameron Kusher.

Just what we need.
Another podcast.
How many are out there – thousands or millions?

Fear and greed. The irony of that name, very fitting to those that worked in (or were victims of) the Fairfax Macquarie merger.
