ARN announces 2018 KIIS national network lineup

After reporting that The Thinkergirls had been axed for 2018, ARN has just announced the full 2018 national line up for the KIIS Network, including new nights entertainment show Celeb HQ headlined by Zoe Marshall and John ‘JC’ Caldwell.

Today’s announcement follows ARN’s recent unveiling of the first phase of its transformative 2018 strategy for the KIIS Network, with new national Drive Show Will & Woody (aka Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw) and new Breakfast show Jase & PJ aka (Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Polly ‘PJ’ Harding) for Melbourne’s KIIS 101.1.

Celeb HQ will air nationally from 7pm – 8pm, right after Kyle & Jackie O’s Hour of Power, and feature all the latest gossip from Hollywood and home with Zoe Marshal and John ‘JC’ Caldwell, and Craig ‘Lowie’ Low will also contribute special news and features from his base in LA.

The Thinkergirls national nights show won’t return in 2018.

ARN National Content Director Duncan Campbell said: “This announcement completes the unveiling of a new strategic direction for the KIIS National Network that has been in planning for the past 12 months.

“KIIS is a vibrant network and this is an exciting evolution for the night schedule with the focus on celebrity news, entertainment and fresh on-air teams. Celebrity HQ is going to be a fun, irreverent and exciting new nights show and I am pleased to welcome Zoe Marshall back to KIIS as she teams up with our resident entertainment reporter JC and Lowie.”

“This new national evening line-up will strengthen and re-energise our offering across the network to be even more competitive in all markets next year and beyond.”

“I would like to thank The Thinkergirls – Stacey June and Kristie Mercer – for being part of the KIIS team for the past two years. They have delivered a uniquely entertaining show to a loyal audience and we are working together to explore opportunities for the future.”

Zoe Marshall has worked in the media for the past 10 years as a host on radio and TV and as an online contributor. Previously one of the hosts of KIIS FM’s 3PM Pick Up, Zoe is married to NRL’s Benji Marshall and is a self-confessed ‘over sharer’. She is host of “The House of Wellness” on Ch7Two every Sunday and has appeared on The Project, Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition.

John ‘JC’ Caldwell is the resident entertainment reporter for the KIIS FM Network and the Kyle & Jackie O Show – his passion for entertainment and his natural rapport with global celebrities has made him one of the hottest names in entertainment media in Australia and the US.

Lowie is an award winning Australian comedian, TV and radio host and writer. He has featured on MTV, Fox, Nickelodeon and The Comedy Channel and is currently the host of Lowie Live which can be heard on iHeartRadio.

Will everyone at 101 be given name badges or have their names on t-shirts? The cavelcade of nobody’s keeps growing. Duncan has been running the same quotes for years, mind you I’d be interested to see the 12 month plan. To be fair it is all about chemistry and it seems Lowie and Jon Cadwell could be besties. It’s like a game of limbo, how low can you go. We thought 2day had it won! Watch this space.

Just wondering

Anyone know if 96 are going to take the whole lot of just drive/K&J as they do now?

Replaying Melbourne breakfast at night time. Seems like a missed opportunity to build a strong night show. Unless they’re seeing how CelebHQ goes before extending it?

Seems like someone at ARN had no plan for Hughesy & Kate leaving.. dismal past 6PM. Replays, replays, replays (minus an hour of pre-recorded showbiz drivel from 3 no names).

101 will be making quite a few staff redundant, it seems.

Why replay a breakfast show for 2 hr at night there would be so many better shows and the 3pm pick up show needs to be replaced

HAHAHA Zoe Marshall. Oh wow. HA
Lets hope she does a LOT better than the disaster that was ZM Drive in NZ for a couple of years.

It seems like ARN are trying to build a network forgetting that each station has a different target. Sure, Sydney and Melbourne skew younger, and this line up fits the KIIS brand. But Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth all skew younger, and this doesn’t seem like a line-up that will resonate with those older audiences.

So ARN needs to pick a chamber and bite a bullet. They either all need to reposition to KIIS as a network, or allow Bris/Adl/Per to run independent, local programming to suit their individual markets. And if I were the day announcers at any of these stations, I’d be getting my plan B ready waiting for a Nova-style ‘restructure’ in the next 12 months.

That’s me gone then. Matt & Meshel, Hughesy & Kate and The Thinkergirls were the three shows I listened to. Bye bye KIIS FM

This is looking more and more like an own goal by ARN. No wonder Hughesy & Kate jumped ship. Just as 96FM are starting to stabilise, ARN dump Breakfast and add more content that doesn’t fit the demo in to Drive/Nights. 3PM Pick Up? Doesn’t 96FM still skew towards older males? No offence to Will & Woody (at least Perth listeners will recognise them), but scheduling what was meant to be the new Night show in to Drive is an attempt to capture a ‘Hamish & Andy vibe’. Jase & PJ at Night is just ARN replaying the content they’ve re-cut for ZM Drive. And ‘Celeb HQ’.. really!? #yawn #meh

Duncan Campbell says ” KIIS is a vibrant network, and this is an exciting evolution for the night schedule ” Vibrant , exciting, evolution ahh the only thing they have left that is vibrant and exciting is Kyle and Jackie in Sydney. Can we do without the boring overused sales spin lines please DC. We’ve all grown up now.
