Take 5 Hottest Radio Hunk

It’s offical. Take 5 Magazine readers have labelled “veteran broadcaster” Ray Hadley as Australia’s “sexiest radio star”.

The 2GB Mornings host pipped Hit Network funnyman Dave Hughes into second place in the nationwide contest.

Reigning champ Brendan Jones came sixth this year, one place below ARN stablemate Kyle Sandilands.

Hadley was presented with his trophy live on The Today Show by Take 5 editor Paul Merrill.

“This is the greatest accolade of my career,” said Hadley. “I’m a very worthy winner, and at 64 it was probably my last chance. Hughesy’s got plenty of time left to win.”

Take 5 publisher Bauer Media said over 11,500 listeners voted in the poll.

Triple M’s Like Darcy had mounted an extensive on-air campaign to boost his numbers and finished third, just ahead of Nova’s Marty Sheargold, who beat his co-star Tim Blackwell.

ABC Melbourne legend John Faine, who is set to retire in October, was a surprise entry in ninth place after his station posted a photo on Twitter and declared that he should win.

Merrill said the top 25 definitely confirms that being “hot” isn’t just about physical appearance.

“It includes voice, sense of humour and personality too,” said Merrill.

“To his listeners, Ray is a guilty crush and every bit as sexy as hunky stars 40 years his junior.”
