Brian ‘Spoonman’ Carlton has completed his first shift on Triple M Hobart Breakfast.

Triple M Hobart’s decision to replace Dave Noonan with Carlton has been a big talking point, and came shortly after Carlton made a surprise exit from Grant Broadcasters.

This morning (Monday, November 18) saw the Spoonman make his first appearance on Triple M Hobart’s new Breakfast show.

The intro sting proclaimed it as “the show where no topic is taboo.”

“As live as it gets, good morning and welcome to a brand new one!” said Carlton. “You can call the show, that’s why we’re here. It’s yours. What do you want to do with it? What do you want to talk about?”

“Jump on the phone if you’ve got a question… if you want to have a crack please feel free, open invitation.”

After then addressing some of the wild weather concerns for the forthcoming week, Carlton introduced himself properly.

“I’ve been doing this sort of work for three decades now in different places, much of that time at Triple M on the mainland,” he said.

“I’m absolutely stoked to be here, unlike the narrative that’s rolling out in the newspapers today. I didn’t muscle myself into anything, I was asked to do this job and it’s in a very real sense, a dream job. You’d be a mug to say no.

“The thing I need to do here is acknowledge Dave Noonan and his contribution to our state over 25 years. Dave’s legacy is something that will be felt for many generations.”
