Cameron Ling departs 3AW for the ABC

Staff Writer

Former Geelong captain Cameron Ling has departed Nine Radio’s 3AW ahead of the upcoming AFL season.

The Herald Sun reports that Ling will join the commentary team at the ABC, as 3AW shakes up its AFL coverage for the new year following Nine’s takeover.

He was reportedly let go from his role due to “budgetary constraints”.

Ling will continue his TV commitments, as well as his new ABC gig which will see him join a Saturday morning pre-game show with chief caller Alister Nicholson.

Matthew Richardson will continue his role with 3AW after inking a new contract.

Meanwhile, Caroline Wilson won’t continue in her role on 3AW’s Sports TOnight program due to her expanding role on Nine’s Footy Classified.

Nine announced its full buyout of Macquarie Media in August last year, before rebranding the network to Nine Radio in January 2020.
