Christian O’Connell’s scare campaign against Fox, Nova & more

Staff Writer

Christian O’Connell is preparing for the elections in Melbourne this weekend by running a series of smear campaigns against his Breakfast opponents.

He’s calling on listeners to vote for Gold FM and his Breakfast show, and warning of the dangers of listening to Fox FM, Nova 100, Triple M Melbourne and smooth 91.5.

One ad fires off a broadside at Fifi Box and Fox FM.

“Under a Melbourne-run Fox FM, you’ve had cuts to requests, cuts to real music and cuts to real artists,” one advertisement warns.

“I’m not saying Fifi Box will break into your home and kill your pets, but I’m not saying she won’t.”

Another ad takes aim at Nova 100’s Sam Pang for his decision to work from 7am and not start Breakfast with the rest of his team.

“Don’t early rising Melbournians deserve your comedy to?

“Nova is trying to rip the guts out out of the 6am hour. Not happy Pang!

“Also Pang rhymes with wang, just saying.”

I don’t agree with rubbishing your opposition.

All of these comments read like Gold is actually taking a shot at the other shows. It’s literally friendly banter, what’s not to love?

I love this! I can’t stand when radio stations pretend their opposition don’t exist, bit of fun and friendly banter

The Triple M one kills me! Haha.

You’re move Fitzy, if you’re not too busy on ASOS picking you slim fit black G-Star Raw jeans and matching jacket.
