Connected Listening: The Launch of RadioApp

Staff Writer

RadioApp BETA has just landed in both the google play and itunes stores.

The new free app is squarely aimed at getting people to listen to radio stations online through a single point on their smartphone. The new term being “connected listening”.

Who’s behind it?

Southern Cross Austereo.

SCA have just launched the BETA version of the app to the market for both Android and iOS devices.

Right now it set to showcase SCA brands from both their terrestrial Triple M/Mix and hit Network stations and their Digital offerings like Buddha, MORE Digital, The Range, Stardust and more.

They have also opened it up to all the ABC radio brands including triple j and the Fairfax Radio Network. They say more are planned.

SCA are positioning RadioApp as a neutral application with other network stations and brands invited to join the platform.

The collective UK Radio Industry as a body launched their RadioPlayer app and online platform last year. It features over 400 stations including both commercial and all the BBC brands. More here on that.

SCA Director of Digital and Innovation, Vijay Solanki said, “At SCA we believe in taking an agile and lean approach to our digital product development. We’re pleased to announce our BETA launch of RadioApp. It’s a mobile service intended to provide the best radio choice to Australian music listeners. It’s a seamless experience to select your station and the rest is music pleasure. We will measure early adopter behaviour and listen to feedback as we evolve the service for a full launch. We are building a neutral platform and welcome other stations and services to join us.”

RadioApp is available for free now via the Apple and Google Play app stores by clicking the links.
