Danny Lakey jumps from Hit Network to Triple M Nights

Southern Cross Austereo has announced that Danny Lakey will host a new National Nights show on Triple M.

The move will see Lakey depart his gig on Hit Network Late Nights, which he has hosted for the last couple of years since moving from his Wakey Wakey It’s Danny Lakey Mid-Dawns show.

He previously worked as a boundary rider for Triple M Footy’s Sydney Swans and GWS games in recent years, and Triple M says his new show will be based around Lakey’s unique personality with a 90’s and New Rock music focus.

“I’m super excited to head over to Triple M. I can’t wait to get stuck into a new show and a new challenge,” said Lakey.

“I’ve been secretly listening to the station on my drive to and from work each night for the past three years, so I’m glad to get rid of that guilty feeling in the pit of my stomach as well. Bring it on!”

Triple M Nights has seen Rock Song Dedications hosted by The Love God for just over a year now, since Tom & Olly moved to the Hit Network.

Head of Triple M Network Mike Fitzpatrick said the network has been keeping an eye on Lakey for some time. “We’ve been persistent in trying to get Danny over to Triple M for a while now and we’ve finally worn everyone down. He’s an exceptional talent and I’m excited to have him host a new night show across the network,” he said.

“Danny joins an elite group of personalities to have hosted Triple M Nights over the past 40 years including Ugly Phil, John Peters, John Kennedy, Crud, Spoonman and Rob Elliott –  his future hosting of a Wheel of Fortune revival is written in the stars now.”

Danny Lakey got his start as a casual at Hit90.9 Gold Coast (then Sea FM), and has also had stints at Hit92.9 Perth, Star 106.3 Townsville and Hit Central Queensland.

He featured on Radio Today’s Top New Talent To Watch In 2018.

A start date for Lakey’s new Triple M Nights show will be announced shortly.

Please tell me that this show is definitely replacing “Rock Song Dedications” hosted by The Love God.

Never before has a show been more “off-brand” than RSD on MMM. Nothing was more infuriating than going from the Mark Gyer show to RSD.

The Love God probably has his place on radio but it is not MMM.

What is Triple M doing to me???????? I can’t listen to this nonsense! I have never heard anything more ridiculous on the radio.
