Deezer has introduced a new feature to make it easier for users to access podcasts and radio shows.

The Deezer Shows hub is for non-music audio content, with 15 custom channels that also cover comedy, society & culture, music podcasts, fiction and education.

Shows is currently available for free and paying subscribers on iOS, to extend to desktop and Android in the near future. It offers users easier searches through sub-categories and niche subjects like self-help, parenthood, podcasts for kids, inspirational women, entrepreneurs and testimonials.

Users also get customised recommendations based on past listening.

In October, the Paris-based company revealed that its monthly podcast usage has soared 250% during the past two years while listening time on podcasts has quadrupled.

Shows provides access to radio shows from a number of countries including US, UK, France, Brazil, Germany and the Netherlands.

Deezer VP of content and productions Frederic Antelme said, “As much we all love music, there are times when we just want to hear a funny podcast or binge on a crime series.

“Now our Shows feature makes it easier than ever for our users to find the content they love. We provide the best local and global podcasts, fresh original productions and radio channels tailored for our users.”

Deezer is performing strongly in Brazil, which is now second to the US in worldwide podcast use, according to Podcast Stats Soundbites. It posted a 40% user intake in that country,

Rival Spotify’s Brazilian podcast use has risen by 21% since January 2018, while its global consumption is up 39% for its 500,000 packages.
