Eddie McGuire ‘doesn’t want to know’ who his Triple M replacement will be

Former Editor & Content Director

Outgoing host of Triple M’s Hot Breakfast in Melbourne Eddie McGuire has weighed in on who will succeed him on the show.

McGuire has been doing the rounds this week, and popped into the Nova studios alongside Joel Creasey in Melbourne to chat to the Kate, Tim & Joel show.

The quartet joked about the large volume of rumours swirling around about everything from 2Day FM Breakfast in Sydney to Marty Sheargold’s next move and, of course, who will take over Triple M Breakfast.

“I’ve only been here for a few weeks and you radio people are very weird. It’s a very weird world, I’m enjoying it but it’s very strange,” Creasey said of all the speculation.

McGuire and Tim Blackwell noted the rumours that Sheargold – formerly a co-host of Nova Drive – could be in line for the gig.

“I’ve heard he’s cut my lunch, is that right? Marty Sheargold,” McGuire said, before Kate Ritchie goaded him on pretending not to know Triple M’s plans.

“No, I can tell you Kate I deliberately don’t want to know …I don’t want to know anything about this for exactly this reason. I don’t want it coming out from me. Don’t tell me, I don’t even want a hint. I’m not interested,. Good luck, I’ll hang up my microphone next Friday and whoever comes in next I wish them the best of luck,” he said.

Creasey then joked that perhaps serial headline chaser Pete Evans could be in the mix.

“I tell you what, It will be a big show for the first 10 minutes,” McGuire quipped.

McGuire then proceeded to beat Ritchie in Quick Draw.
