Edith Cowan University: You’re On Air

The countdown is on until Perth’s newest radio station goes to air from the Mount Lawley Campus of Edith Cowan University.

Radio ECU will air on Sunday August 12 during a University Open day and will feature programs created and presented by students of the School of Arts and Humanities.

Their new facilities include a glass-fronted on-air studio, a fully equipped newsroom and teaching area, production suites and three additional radio studios.

The studios are kitted out with Axia desks, station playlist software, NewsBoss and PhoneBox, helping students create news and taking calls on air.

It’s part of Edith Cowan’s $5 million communications and arts hub that aims to turn-out graduates, who’re ready to take that first step on the radio career path.

ECU boasts students who’ve already launched their careers with major media organisations including ABC, Nova, 6PR and 94.5.

Budding radio journalists can tour the new broadcasting facilities during next Sunday’s Open Day. They’re located in Building 13, Mount Lawley Campus, Bradford Street.
