Jeremy Cordeaux moves to Weekend Breakfast on FIVEaa

Adelaide’s FIVEaa is kicking off the new year with a talent shuffle, which will see Evenings host Jeremy Cordeaux move into Weekend Breakfast.

Owner of the station NOVA Entertainment said the radio veteran and Hall of Famer was looking for a “change of lifestyle”.

Taking his place in the Evenings slot will be Matthew Pantelis, who has been with the station for almost 25 years. For the past 15 years, he has been its news director.

FIVEaa’s station manager Craig Munn praised both broadcasters.

“Jeremy is a wonderful broadcaster that has entertained Adelaide audiences for more than 40 years. We did not hesitate to accomodate his wish to continue with his career on Saturday and Sunday mornings,” he said.

“Likewise with Matthew, his understanding of all things Adelaide, coupled with his outstanding broadcasting skills makes him the perfect fit to entertain and inform our listeners as Adelaide’s only live and local Evenings program through to midnight each weeknight.”

Pantelis is excited about the opportunity.

“I grew up listening to the greats of Adelaide Radio – Bob Francis, Neil Humphries, John Vincent, Leon Byner, and of course the great Jeremy Cordeaux,” he said. “It’s so humbling and amazing to be given the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.”

Weekend Breakfast is currently hosted by Leith Forrest, who Radio Today understands will continue to anchor and co-produce Rowey’s Sports Show on weekdays from 4pm. It’s not yet clear who will fulfil the news director role currently occupied by Pantelis. NOVA Entertainment has been asked for further details.

Evenings with Matthew Pantelis commences on Monday, January 18, while Weekend Breakfast with Jeremy Cordeaux kicks off on Saturday, January 23.
