Comedian Jenny Wynter to host Funny Mummies podcast

Staff Writer

It’s a week for new podcast launches and announcements, with Queensland comedian Jenny Wynter the latest to launch a new series.

Wynter will bring together fellow female comedy royalty for Funny Mummies.

Last year, Wynter made some pilot episodes of Funny Mummies during lockdown, however this will be the first full series of the podcast.

The podcast aims to find the funny side to help people get through the tough bits of life and will feature the likes of Cal Wilson, Fiona O’Loughlin, Bev Killick and Mandy Nolan.

Guests will share funny stories, dark comic home truths and raw examples of how finding laughter has gotten them through bad times.

Wynter said she discovered humour as a form of comic relief after her mother passed away when she was young. She started doing stand-up comedy in 2004 as the mother of two young kids, and was soon awarded the Lord Mayor’s Fellowship for New and Emerging Artists.

Wynter said: “I feel ridiculously lucky to chat with some of the best comedians in Australia and beyond on this podcast who just so happen to be mamas. These are fiercely funny women who aren’t afraid to chat about the real, raw and dark stuff too. It feels very much like having deep and meaningfuls with women after my own heart – who happen to be damn hilarious to boot.”
