Glenn Daniel donates book proceeds

smooth 95.3 newsreader Glenn Daniel has made good on a promise he made when he first announced plans to publish his memoirs.

Daniel pledged to donate the entire proceeds from the sale of News Time – A Life in Radio to the Cardiac Research Unit at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

Launched in March, News Time celebrates a career spanning 35 years, covering the ‘big’ stories that have dominated the news cycle.

“It was a dream to write my journey as a radio journalist over the last 35 years but the greatest pleasure has been supporting the amazing Cardio team at RPA,” says Glenn.

“They’re at the leading edge of the TAVI Program (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) which allows heart valve replacement without open-heart surgery”.

“After undergoing open heart surgery in 2011 and taking 6 months to recover it’s wonderful to see TAVI patients enjoy a whole new quality of life in just 10 days”.

It sold well and the news reading legend has presented the hospital with a cheque for $20,000.

“RPA is not about just providing excellent clinical services; what differentiates us is we are also fundamentally committed to finding new solutions”.

“We are really grateful for community support from someone like Glenn because these contributions make all the difference in making research possible”.
