Hamish Blake back on screens fronting ‘Big’ Tourism Australia campaign

Former Editor & Content Director

Hamish Blake and his wife, entrepreneur and author Zoe Foster-Blake, are once again being wheeled out as the faces of Australia.

The duo are fronting the new iteration of Tourism Australia’s ‘Holiday Here This Year’ campaign, which focuses on the country’s ‘big’ offerings.

Blake was recruited last year by Tourism Australia to help sell the country as a holiday destination to locals frustrated by the lack of international travel.

“We know everybody feels like a holiday right now, so it’s not exactly a tough sell, but hopefully we can help to convince those people who were putting one off or had planned something overseas, to book a holiday here. Not only will they create incredible memories, they’ll be helping the tourism sector right across the country bounce back,” Blake and Foster-Blake said at the time.

Tourism Australia’s chief marketing officer, Susan Coghill, is hopeful the campaign will be the nudge people need to book a trip.

“In Australia we’re so lucky to have so many epic wonders to explore, and Hamish and Zoe get to share their experience of those bucket list destinations around Australia in our latest instalment of the ‘Holiday Here This Year’ campaign, so that we can in turn inspire Australians to do the same for their next holiday,” she said.

“We know that many Australians have had to put off taking a holiday in the past year, but with consumer confidence to travel on the rise and travel back on the cards, we want to remind everybody that now is the time to think big and treat yourself to that epic adventure that you’ve been dreaming of.”

Blake is contracted to Channel 9 as the host of LEGO Masters, however has been doing the media rounds across various networks to promote the campaign.

He also has the weekly Hamish & Andy and Hamish & Andy’s Remembering Project podcasts with Southern Cross Austereo’s LiSTNR.
