Here’s how radio covered the Royal Wedding
Royal Wedding fever gripped the nation over the past week, and of course radio programs around the country took the opportunity to create some great wedding-inspired content.
Here’s how commercial radio covered Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle over the past week:
Nova sent Sydney Breakfast hosts Fitzy and Wippa all the way to London, alongside National Drive hosts Kate, Tim and Marty – who all broadcast from the UK all week.
It was a week of mischief and mayhem, but one of the clear highlights was the unveiling of Fitzy and Wippa’s Royal Wedding swimsuits…
While Kyle and Jackie O decided to stay in Australia, they celebrated just as hard as anyone, putting together a Royal Wedding Drinking Game.
Rules included ‘Drinking when you see a shot of Beatrice wearing a stupid hat’, ‘Drink when they call it wedding of the year’ and ‘Drink when they show a montage of Harry growing up’.
Kyle may have gone a bit hard on the juice though…
The Breakfast team at 2DayFM held a big shindig to celebrate the wedding last Wednesday at Luna Park’s Palais Room.
The highlight of the night was when Em, Grant and Ed surprised the audience by providing the setting for a couple to actually get married.
Last night, we hosted our Royal Wedding Wedding Dress Party at the amazing Luna Park Weddings! This is what went down, from a wedding to Grant ending up with cake all over his face!

Nova’s Melbourne Breakfast team were the ones left behind after their Sydney counterparts Fitzy and Wippa got the gig to go and cover the Royal Wedding from London.
Not to be outdone, Chrissie revealed a shocking secret about Harry and Meghan as she recorded a video she hoped would be played during the ceremony.
Chrissie has had to send her apologies to the #royalwedding – but here’s the video message she expects they’ll play during the reception… #wedding #royalfamily #royalwedding2018

Fifi, Fev and Byron got into the spirit by giving away a VIP Royal Wedding experience including flights and accomodation for listener Lauren to attend the Royal Wedding.
KIIS Network Drive
Will and Woody pulled off one of the funnier Royal Wedding-related stunts with an on-air segment they called the Royal Wedging.
The premise was simple. Listeners called in to tell the boys jokes, and if they laughed, their undies were pulled higher and higher until either the undies snapped or they were pulled over their heads.
Mix’s Breakfast team in Adelaide Jodie and Soda introduced a “one-off, priceless” commemorative Royal Wedding Tea set.
Today's the day! The day someone might just earn themselves the Jodie & Soda Commemorative Royal Wedding Tea Set! Also some other things are happening.
