It’s a new dawn for Southern Cross Austereo’s 90.9 on the Gold Coast.

The station has officially rebranded from Sea to Hit today.

As reported by Radio Today, the rebrand arrived with a revamped  Breakfast lineup.

Lise Carlaw and Sarah Wills of Those Two Girls join current hosts Dan Anstey and Ben Hannant.

Listen to the Brekkie Crew’s first break below.

SCA says the rebrand is about allowing listeners to be part of a more unified brand and that local shows, news, events and music will remain the same.

“For us, this new show is about friendship, it’s four mates coming together, shooting the breeze and having a lot of laughs along the way,” said Lise & Sarah.

Earlier this month, SCA also appointed Ali Longhurst as Hit90.9 content director.

She takes over from Corey Kay, who is now the CD at Gold 92.5.

Longhurst previously worked as 90.9 Sea FM between 2015 and 2017, and returns to the Gold Coast after a stint in Melbourne.

Those Two Girls will continue to host their national one-hour show on the Hit Network from 5am on weekdays.

Amazing!! The boys are already superstars and with these two incredibly talented ladies it’s even better! Can’t wait to hear more and see the great results to follow ❤️

The show sounded smooth, like they’d be working together for years. The girls know how to tell a story, the boys know how to share their airwaves – it’s a match made in heaven. If this show is given time it’s going to be good news for the Gold Coast.

Missed opportunity for 97.3!!!!!

Why in the name of god and all things holy have you not called the show Dan, Ben and Those 2 Girls. What sort of absolute gooses in marketing thought that that was a good idea.

A: you’ve lost the branding equity you’ve spent 2 years growing by having ‘Those 2 Girls’ on as national pre-breakky. What was the point of having them there as a development show. They’re not Lise and Sarah, you spent 2 years positioning them as Those 2 Girls.

B: You’ve just gone and made a (minimum) $600k+ breakky show in GC be a 4-hander in an era of tight and bright talk breaks. In what universe is this a good idea.

C: Ash Pollard is literally from the Gold Coast and should have walked this in. Or Jess at Newy.

D: They’re from Brissy, and I swear to god if they’re in at the DAB studios at HIT105 and not at the Coast every day I would absolute flip my banana.

@B.B

Calm down, take a breath. Your chance is coming. Keep working hard, send off your airchecks (1 thought per break), practice your paneling, keep the station cars clean and you’ll go far.

Doing the show from Brisbane but heading down one day a week just to post as many iconic Gold Coast photos on their socials? Doing a show from a different city that you broadcast in never works – just ask 2day fm

Better than Heather but that’s not saying much. First few breaks a bit stilted but they’ll improve in time. Still no competition for Hot Tomato though.

Are they really broadcasting from Brisbane ? Haven’t SCA learnt their lesson yet with Hit breakfast shows underperforming around the country.
GC is only a 40 minute drive surely they could do the commute ?
