Hit107 is standing up for women’s safety in Adelaide by holding ‘Reclaim The Run’.

The 3K run will take place on Thursday, June 6 in Elder Park, and takes place following recent attacks on female joggers in Oaklands Park.

One of the women attacked, Jeannie from Mitchell Park, told Bec & Cosi she was not afraid to run on her own.

The special event will take place to unite women and make them feel safe in their own community.

“We don’t want the women in Adelaide to be afraid to go out for a run,” said Bec.

“If you’ve ever felt unsafe in the dark – we want you at our event. Let’s stand up for women’s safety and Reclaim the Run.”

Cosi’s wife Sam was the mastermind behind the run idea, which is for all fitness levels, runners or joggers, or walkers.

“This isn’t a fitness run, it’s a show of strength and solidarity for women feeling unsafe, and to stand up against men who prey on women who are jogging on our streets,” Cosi said.

“Our wives, sisters, mums and daughters should feel safe – we need to band together as a city to stand united, that’s what Reclaim the Run is all about.”

Bec & Cosi will also be broadcasting live from the event from 6.30-8pm.

How many of the 300 women will be repulsed by Cosi’s sexist comments that morning?
