New data shows that listening across ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network hit record highs in the month of August, with Victoria in particular seeing a big jump.

ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network recently held on to its title as Australia’s #1 Podcast Publisher, and data from Megaphone shows that listening in Victoria amid lockdown rose by 25% in August compared with the beginning of June.

Nationally, listening hit new highs across the platform’s Business & Finance, Comedy, News, Sports, and Catch Up Radio categories.

In addition, listening in Business & Finance specifically has tripled since March.

News was up 7%, Sports grew 21%), Catch Up Radio rose by 31% and Comedy listening jumped 14%.

“Once again our podcast data shows the important role audio plays in our audience’s daily lives,” ARN head of commercial audio & podcast, Corey Layton, said.

“It’s no surprise that audio listening in Melbourne is up 25% since June as audiences turn to audio for information, a sense of connection and entertainment during lockdown.

“Since March we have seen steady growth across a number of categories with Business & Finance now three times more popular than it was in February as audiences turn to podcasts to better understand and adapt to the economic opportunities and challenges they face.”

ARN’s iHeartPodcast Network also shared a graph plotting listening growth in Victoria:
